A Few Things I believe in as a Future Educator...
I believe... That every child has a right to feel included in the classroom, and have a right to be heard.
If a child feels included, they are more likely to feel like they can participate in class discussions and not worry about being ridiculed for having a wrong or strange answer. And people will disengage in a conversation if they feel like nobody is listening.
I believe... There is a high level of responsibility that educators must uphold.
The educator is responsible for the well-being and learning of the students in the classroom. We are the ones in charge and we need to be aware of what is going on within our space. Is a child struggling with the content? Is another student interrupting another’s work time? Have any of the students completed the assignment and are now sitting there bored? We are the ones who are responsible for there safety and learning opportunities in the classroom.
I believe... Schools should be a place of new experiences in a safe environment.
If a child is in school, they should expect to learn something every day. And they should come to school wanting to learn something new. In a school, we can experiment with different situations and encourage the youth to try new things because we are there to support them in their efforts.
I believe... Students have a right to learn in different ways, and teachers have a responsibility to teach with different methods and styles.
If a student is struggling to grasp a concept in the way we are teaching it, then we need to employ different methods of teaching and try incorporating different styles of learning into the mix. I believe it is the educators responsibility to portray knowledge in many different ways to help all of the student learn, not just those who excel in the style of learning we are teaching in
